Clicking on an image result takes you to the website location with a blown-up version of the image floating above the page, no more clunky frame at the top of the page. You can easily refine your image search results using the left-hand navigation; sort by type of image (clip art, photo, line drawing), color, and size.
Users of Microsoft's Bing Image Search will find the interface familiar. Bing also uses its version of an "infinite scroll" to let users scroll through images without clicking through any number of search results pages, and offers up some background information in a thumbnail preview.
In addition to running traditional ads on the page, advertisers will be able to include image and text ads targeted toward specific search terms. The landing page when you decide to follow a particular photo has also been changed. Currently, Google adds a frame on top of the regular page which features the thumbnail image and some info on it. But you still have to search through the page to find the image you’re looking for.
